Aubrey Fox is the Chief Executive Officer of the New York City Criminal Justice Agency, the City’s main pretrial services and research agency. In this role he oversees the major operations and future development of CJA, which carries the mission of reducing the use of pretrial detention. Since joining CJA in 2017 Aubrey has overseen the expansion of the organization into new avenues of pretrial justice reform. Previously, Aubrey has held a number of senior-level positions at the Center for Justice Innovation, including serving as the founding Project Director of Bronx Community Solutions, an alternative sentencing program. He also launched the Center's U.K. office, the Centre for Justice Innovation, in London.
Aubrey graduated with a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley, served as a VISTA Volunteer in San Antonio, Texas, was a Warren Weaver Fellow at The Rockefeller Foundation and a member of Coro’s Leadership New York program. He is also the co-author, with Greg Berman, of two books: Gradual: The Case for Incremental Change in a Radical Age (Oxford University Press, 2023) and Trial and Error in Criminal Justice Reform: Learning from Failure (first edition Urban Institute Press, revised edition, Rowman and Littlefield).
